¿Costa Rica?

I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this, but last summer I went to Greece, Italy, and France with this group called People to People. So, they invite me to go places every now and then, but I’m just thinking, “Nah, this isn’t going to happen. My parents won’t pay for another trip…” Which is true. However, this weekend I got another letter in the mail, and this one actually came with a brochure. Immediately I was intrigued. Then I saw that it was for Costa Rica! I was even more excited when I saw the pictures! Then I read what activities we would do, and my jaw DROPPED. I would: volunteer at an orphanage, stay with a Costa Rican family, explore the rain forest, swim in waterfalls, surf, white-water raft, and zip line!! Zip lining has been a dream of mine! I love nature, adventure, and traveling. I would even get a chance to use my Spanish! This sounds like THE most amazing trip!! Now if only I can earn some money….

  1. Nicole, that sounds amazing! I have heard that Costa Rica is very welcoming to volunteers who want to help, and it is also a very exciting tourist spot. What does the group that you plan to go with stand for? My questions relates back to the fact that I am very familiar with some agencies and groups that help immerse students into a foreign country in which the that language is studied and improved upon, and other that are just groups to help student get involved in society and try to help become more familiar with international issues. I hope you find a way to get the money for it!

  2. Thanks, Matt. People to People is a Student Ambassador program that helps promote positive global interactions. Your experience sounds really interesting! What groups are you involved with?

However, the trip isn't going to work out for me, unfortunately. But I'm sure this won't be my last chance for such a great opportunity!
